About The Event
In celebration of Fairmont Pride, Rainbow Families is excited to offer a series of Parent & Caregiver Workshops.
Who:
Fairmont Teachers,Staff, Community Members, and Parents.
You do not need to be the parent of a LGBTQ+ student to attend.
What:
Two workshops designed to equip attendees with the information and vocabulary they need to talk with children in their lives about gender, sexuality, consent, and stereotypes in developmentally-appropriate ways and to advocate for LGBTQ+ students (as parents/caregivers, allies, teachers, and friends) in classroom, extracurricular, and parenting settings.
When:
Session 1: Monday 6/5 7-8pm (Zoom; please RSVP for link)
Session 2: Wednesday 6/7 7-8pm (please RSVP for location)
The sessions are designed to build upon one another, so attending both is encouraged. However, you are also welcome to only attend one session.
Why:
- To better understand and appreciate the diversity of our Fairmont community
- To discuss challenges experienced by LGBTQ+ students and students who don’t conform to gender stereotypes, plus how to address them as a community
- To build upon Fairmont’s precedent of robust DEI training in order to create inclusive school and home environments
- To equip Fairmont families and community members with the confidence they need to have tough conversations with young people
Facilitated By:
